"Palomino Homozygous Tobiano stallion,
born May 9, 2010. 'Painted Jewel Stellar' is the second foal out of Clouds Dancin.
Clouds was due on April 27, 2010, but she did not want to
have her baby until she was ready. From midnight to 6am,
for 9 days, I sat in the RV outside the horse barn watching
the TV with a remote feed from the infrared camera. I
left for work on May 6th and returned home at 2:45am on May
9th. I was anxious to see Shadow's new filly, and then I
saw Clouds' new little colt. This was her first baby
without help. I did not think she was capable of
birthing without help from us. She lost her first filly
in 2002 and in 2003 Carletta
and I helped Clouds Dancin to birth Ranger. We imprinted this little boy after
2-3 days because Clouds was so protective. I believe she
does not want anything to happen to her baby since she lost
her first one. She calmed down after a few days and
trusts us with her baby. Everything is just fine. So far, he appears to have his mother's
disposition and friendliness. Another Mr.
Personality Plus!
On May 12th Clouds Dancin and
Stellar went to the vet for his first checkup. Mom and
son did great. Both are in superior health and Stellar
stood by his mom tied up like he had been doing this all
his life. (I guess he has, he was halter trained and
trailer trained by the time he was 48 hrs old.) We went
back to the trailer and Stellar jumped into it followed by
his mom.
