AMIGOS TRIPLE STAR -- We call her 'Star'
apha # 975982

Back to Horses

Black, Filly, 'Star', Born May 7, 2009 around 1:00am.  We did not get  home until 9:00 pm and the horses were not up.  I decided to come back around 1:00am just like I have been doing for 15 days waiting for this foal to be born. I found Shadow and the foal doing GREAT in the pasture.  I led mom and baby to the stall and took pictures.  Carletta did basic imprinting for 1/2 hour and I continued her training the next day.  She learned to lead, tie, and load into the trailer within 30 minutes.  Her first trip to the vet went well and she led to the exam stock and stood tied by her mom like she had been doing this all her life . . . I guess she has. We will give more updates as they are available.

More pictures are below the pedigree.

We are calling her 'Star' and her registered name reflects Hesq Amigos Spin City and Shadow Triple Star.

This is about 1 week old with Shadow, her mom.

Shadow and Star walking and grazing about 1 week old.

June 30, 2009:  Our 4.5 yr old granddaughter, is sitting on Star.  We were really surprised when Star did not even flinch.  She was the only one small enough to 'ride'  Star.

It took a little bit of coaxing to get Star going, but she picked it up fast.

Working Star in the round pen.  She could not wait to help 'train' Star every afternoon.

Star is a little feisty here.  She would say "whoa" and snap the line and Star stopped.  She then dropped the line and told her to "stand" and patted Star all over from one side around Star's tail to the other side.  Then she picked up the line and we lunged Star the other direction.

Star just follows everywhere, even into the trailer.

My little helper leading Star in after all this hard work in the round pen and trailer.

Leading Star to the grooming rack so she can tie her up for grooming after all this work.

How many 4.5 yr olds do you know who can tie a clove hitch with a slip knot?

July 7, 2009:  After one week of training, we have graduated to haltering Star and leading her all by herself.  Star just lets us walk up to her in the stall without fear, and lets her put on the halter.

October 2009:  The kids came for a week and brother is now "riding" Star.

I think Star loves her!

Star is already wanting to be photographed.  She stood exactly where she was supposed to.

Trying to get Star to smile.

Nov 24, 2009, Thanksgiving week:  Working for 3 days to ride Star.  She is doing real well with her leg cues and reins.

Little brother is having fun riding the tractor.

Learning how to squeeze and touch with her right heel while giving rein cues for a left turn.

Star follows her into the trailer  .. "load" and . . . .

. . . Star jumps into the trailer, much to our surprise!"  She was a little off balance here.

Getting out of the trailer is a 'piece of cake'.  She snaps the line and says "back".  When the first foot steps out she says, "step", to warn of  the impending dropoff.

After all this work they give Star's mother, Shadow, a reward since her baby is in the weaning process and Shadow has to stay out of the barnyard.

April 2010.  Star comes in the pasture for 'training' that follows.

Helping lead Star into the barnyard.

After lunging Star, 'whoa' and she dropped the line and made her 'stand'.  Then she pats Star all around and comes back to the line.

After the work, they lead Star into the barnyard.

I sure miss these two helping me with the horses!!

Back in 2012 getting ready to ride her 3 yr old filly.

Look at her form and posture!!
